Program and Merit Badges

The Camp Wakpominee program areas are designed to offer a unique Resident camping experience to Scouts of all ages and experience levels. Our six program areas offer 33 merit badges, including 6 that are required for Eagle, and numerous other activities throughout the day. The Pioneer Program is designed for Scouts who are attending camp for the first time and is based around the Tenderfoot to First Class requirements. For older Scouts we offer C.O.P.E (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience), Mountain biking and Adirondack Treks that offer challenging and exciting opportunities.

Merit Badge Pamphlets are available at the Main Office and can be checked out for the week.

Merit Badge Pre-Requisites

The goal of Camp Wakpominee is to have Scouts leave camp with completed merit badges. Some of the offered merit badges cannot or are difficult to complete in just one week at camp. In order to help with planning and help Scouts leave with complete merit badges, the following list of pre-requisites has been put together. Scouts should complete the requirements listed before camp and bring evidence of its completion or other items noted to camp with them for their merit badge counselor to see.

Online Merit Badge Sign-Ups

Merit badge sign-ups will be once again going online this year. In an effort to ease the rush of Sundays, especially the frenzy of merit badge sign-ups, we will be offering online merit badge sign-ups starting at 7:00 pm on May 15 in a first come first serve fashion. This will be a 2 step process.

  • Step 1 is the registering of Scouts and may be completed before May 15. It is highly recommended that you do so. 
  • Step 2 is registering for merit badges. It is suggested that each unit begin taking the following steps to prepare for step 2:
    • Print and give or send the link to the schedule to each Scout for them to begin reviewing
    • Schedule Scoutmaster Conferences with Scouts throughout March to review what they want to do at camp
    • Designate one adult as the person who will enter Scouts' merit badge/activity choices
    • Develop a written schedule of each Scout's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for each session. Having a written schedule with choices will tremendously help the person entering them online. Some classes still have maximums so alternate choices will allow the adult to choose another class immediately if one is closed.
