Saratoga Good Scout Award Dinner

Turning Point District to Honor Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo

In recognition of Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo’s career of outstanding community service and demonstration of the Scouting values of character, leadership, and service, the 2019 Saratoga Good Scout Award will be presented to him at a dinner on October 3, 2019 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

Sheriff Zurlo has dedicated his career to protecting the people of Saratoga County as deputy, sergeant, lieutenant, senior criminal investigator and now as sheriff with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Zurlo has also served as a respected Town Justice in the Town of Stillwater.  A lifelong resident of Saratoga County and Mechanicville native, Sheriff Zurlo is passionately dedicated to serving his community. He is an active parishioner at the All Saints on the Hudson Catholic Church in Stillwater, a past member of the Mechanicville Fire Department and the John Ahearn Rescue Squad, and a past coach of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Little League.

We are also pleased to be presenting Scouter Keith Koster with the inaugural Larry Gordon Community Leadership Award, recognizing his leadership in the American Legion as the Legion celebrates its 100th Anniversary.  Keith has served in numerous American Legion positions over the last 20 years and is currently the Judge Advocate for the 4th District American Legion, Finance Officer for Saratoga, and Chaplain for Adirondack Post 70. He recently completed the American Legion Centennial Challenge, hiking the Adirondack 46 High Peaks with the American Legion Flag.

Both Sheriff Zurlo and Keith Koster are active Scouting advocates.  The Saratoga Sheriff’s Office sponsors Law Enforcement Explorer Post 4037 with Sheriff Zurlo serving as Executive Officer of the Post.  Keith is the Charter Organization Representative for Saratoga Springs Pack 4012 and Troop 4070 sponsored by the American Legion.
This event is one of the major fundraisers for the Boy Scouts.  All funds raised through this event will benefit Saratoga Scouting in the Twin Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America.  We sincerely hope that you will help make this year’s event a great success.  Your support will help to continue our local scouting program which will produce the leaders of tomorrow.
On behalf of all of our scouts, families, and advocates, we Thank You for your consideration and support.  Looking forward to seeing you on October 3rd!

For all sponsorships and honorary committee registrations who would like to be shown in the mailed invitation, please register by August 10th.
